Nobody likes to think about it, and almost nobody plans for it. But every account on NexudeIT eventually outlives the person who created it — whether that's in fifty years or, sadly, much sooner. This guide walks you through the five-minute setup that turns "an inbox full of mystery emails" into "a clear, signed plan" for whoever you trust most. You only have to do it once, and you can update it whenever life changes.

Open Account → Security → Legacy & Inheritance and tap Add Legacy Contact. You can nominate up to three people: a primary and two backups. Each person receives a signed email invitation; they accept by signing in to their own NexudeIT account and verifying. Once they accept, the system shows you a one-time Legacy Access Token — a 24-character code. Print it, save it in your password manager, or write it on the wallet card the system offers to generate. The token alone is never enough to access your account; it must be paired with a certified death certificate during the post-mortem flow.

Pick people who actually know you well enough to act calmly under pressure. The closest relative is not always the right choice — a level-headed friend who handles paperwork well is often a better Legacy Contact than a grieving spouse.

Just below the Legacy Contacts card you'll find the Inactive Account Manager (IAM). Choose how long the platform should wait, after no sign of life from you, before notifying your Legacy Contacts. The default is 18 months; you can pick anything from 3 to 36 months. After that threshold, NexudeIT sends a 60-day grace notification across every channel you have on file, plus a final 30-day notice. If you log in even once during the window, everything resets and your contacts are sent a courtesy "false alarm" note.

This is the slow, safe fallback for cases where nobody ever submits a death certificate — for example, an accident with no surviving family who knew about your NexudeIT presence. It is not a death declaration; it is just NexudeIT noticing that you've stopped showing up.

The Digital Will wizard walks you through a structured form covering every asset class on NexudeIT: your store (transfer, liquidate, or close), active listings (let them run, auto-cancel, or transfer), affiliate earnings (final payout or forfeit), clusters you own (transfer moderation to a named successor or archive), reviews you authored (preserve with an In Memoriam badge, anonymise, or delete), and your public profile (memorialise, delete, or preserve). The wizard is optional but strongly recommended — without it, your Legacy Contact has to make every one of those decisions while grieving.

A few things cannot be willed to anyone, no matter what you write here: your loyalty tier, your saved payment methods, your two-factor seed, your recovery codes, and the contents of your end-to-end encrypted messages. Those are personal to you by policy or by the laws of mathematics. The Digital Will form will be explicit about this so there are no surprises later.

Under Account → Privacy → Posthumous Preferences, you can flip a single switch: "If I pass away, memorialise my public profile."When this is ON, your Legacy Contact can trigger the gentler Memorialise flow with just a death certificate — no probate court documents needed. When it's OFF, any post-mortem action requires a full executor with letters of testamentary, which can take months. Most people prefer to flip it ON; you can change your mind any time.

If you already have an estate plan and a named executor, the wizard's last step lets you upload (encrypted at rest) their name, email, phone, and relationship, plus a copy of a notarised Authorization for Posthumous Digital Access using the downloadable NexudeIT template. This shortcuts identity verification later, but does not bypass the requirement for a certified death certificate and letters of testamentary at the time of claim.

Inside the Legacy & Inheritance card there's a Send sample notification button. Tap it once. Each of your Legacy Contacts will get a clearly labelled test email so they know what a real alert looks like and what to do if they ever receive one. Then add a calendar reminder for the same week each year to check your settings: marriages, divorces, new executors, changes of address — all of these mean it's time to update.
